The Mission

I recently moved to Chicago from Portland, Oregon. In order to fully experience this new environment, I have decided to do some activity completely foreign to me every day for the next 365 days. The activities can range from the minute to the outlandish. Some may be specific to the Chicago area, some may be things I have wanted to try for a long time, and some may be things I will only ever do once. Some activities may be planned, and others may just be stumbled upon. I encourage suggestions and look forward to your comments. Welcome to the Novice Du Jour.

    Yay, comments!

Good luck with your noble quest.
Have you tried Chicago’s Groupon? Every once and a while they have some unusual activities like helicopter tours or underwater book-stacking classes.
Maybe it will help in your quest?

    Awesome idea!

    Here are some more ideas:
    Donate blood
    Get a massage
    Go streaking
Eat only orange food for a day
    Take a kick boxing/Zumba class
    Sing Karaoke at a bar
Buy a face mask from the grocery store and use it
    Get a pedicure
    Dye your hair
    Protest something
Attend a church service of a religion that you know nothing about
Eat only locally/and or without corn syrup for a day
Track your carbon footprint for a day

I love this! Here are some more suggestions:
    *Ride a mechanical bull
*Go to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (supposed to be one of the biggest ones around and they dye the river green)
*See a show at the Chicago theater
*Go to a “real” blues bar
    *Plant something
*Wear your clothes backwards for a day
*do a tour of famous building in the city

I’ll let you know if I think of more suggestions.

Now you know Chicago is haunted by dead gangsters. There’s a lot of them! So you need to find a haunted speak easy to tour before halloween. Also, the ribs are awesome (and the pizza which you’ve found). Another thing…go out on Lake Michigan and see if you can find the Edmond Fitzgerald (kidding) or go sailing. And above all, be safe.

Sky Diving! I just started looking at this site, so I’ll come up with some more things later.

The zorbing looks fun, but I think it should be required that you do it to the music included in the video.
