Day 338: Visit Al Capone’s old haunt

August 6, 2011 § Leave a comment

Visited the Green Mill in the early hours of the morning, the former speakeasy where gangster Al Capone used to spend his free time. It’s only a $6 cover charge for the best jazz and swing you’ll hear in the entire city. We went on big band and swing night, where they were doing live radio with an entire 14 piece band. They had couples both young and old dipping and diving on the dance floor.

Rumor is that the building has secret tunnels that Capone used to sneak in and out of. I tried searching for them until Big  Al, a 300+lb biker with an eye patch and bear claw necklace who patrolled the dance floor, told me to get back in my seat. So I just sat back and enjoyed the show.
