Day 316: Grow up

Am I too old to see the final Harry Potter movie at midnight?
What a stupid question. Hell no.
The culmination of the series signifies the official end of 12 years of HP fueled childhood wonder that began when I received the first book in 5th grade. Since that time, I’ve waited at midnight for four books and four movies.
I literally grew up with Harry, Ron, Hermione & Co. I anxiously prepared for middle school as The Boy That Lived anxiously enrolled at Hogwarts. When Prisoner of Azkaban came out, Daniel Radcliffe and I together battled puberty in the form of pimples, chest hair and other more embarrassing symptoms. Now he slaughters He Who Must Not Be Named as I grow close to earning my grad degree. It’s almost like we’re the same person. Except he was in a play about being in love with a horse.
But tonight it all ends. Unless, of course, J.K. Rowling crawls off of her pile of money to write an eighth book. In which case, I’ll be there in line for the next book and film. At midnight.
