Day 297: Taste Chicago and hit the Improv Olympic
June 26, 2011 §
A day that starts with food and ends with comedy is, for me, a version of heaven.
We broke bread at the Taste of Chicago, which kicked off this weekend. There were 59 restaurants struttin’ their stuff.
Mango dusted fries with tamarind chutney...
...in my belly.
Man doing strange yoga dance in the background of someone's wedding photos,
doll holder in the stalls of the men's bathroom at the American Girl store,
and the "Andre the Giant has a Posse" sticker by street artist Shephard Fairey, who designed the famous Obama graphic, off of the Belmont stop. Google it.
Then, to act as the maraschino cherry to this Saturday sundae, the Improv Olympic:
Where Chicago improv greats like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley and Vince Vaughn took off.
Watched an hour and a half of long-form improv, with teams taking bare-bones suggestions from an audience and building them into entire comedic plays. It was hilarious. Made me miss the days when I used to organize improv shows in high school.
Maybe I’ll have to take a class.
