Day 184: Eat for free

Shawn recently got a job as a waiter at a fancy new restaurant in the suburb of Deerfield called “Townhouse.” He gave Jason five exclusive invitations to the preview, and so we were able to attend the VIP event. This meant that all food and drinks were FREE.
The restaurant was modern looking with dim lighting and a lot of dark wood. The lamps had metal nets around them resembling the bug-zapping lights you set out while camping. A few tables away, Shawn pointed out the owner dining with his family. Overall, the atmosphere looked as if an old west saloon had collided with a ski lodge, but in a good way.
At our table we were given an envelope with 9 meal choices: 6 entrees and 3 appetizers. From those options, we could choose five entrees and two appetizers among the five of us. After some drinks we started with a fantastic red pepper hummus and a mouth-watering jalapeno artichoke fondue. For dinner I had an Asian-style turkey burger and Steph ate a club sandwich with grilled chicken and gruyere, and for dessert we split a trio of gelato (as well as coffee).
