Day 152: Weather the Great Chicago Blizzard 2011

February 2, 2011 § Leave a comment

The above video documents my venture into the Great Chicago Blizzard 2011, also known as #snOMG on Twitter.

We decided to have breakfast for dinner, but I was devastated to find we were out of ketchup. Well you can’t have scrambled eggs without ketchup, so I decided I would trudge my way to the 7-11 down the street. In the video you can see me face the elements.

I made it to 7-11 only to discover that they had already run out of bottles. Apparently when everyone heard a storm was coming, they rushed to stock up on ketchup. However, they still had a ketchup pump by the hotdogs, and the clerk was nice enough to let me fill up a soup bowl. Then I ran home.

I can no longer see out of our window, but earlier tonight I saw a tow truck spin out, and the back door to our building will no longer open because a wall of snow has built up on the outside. There was also a lightening storm somewhere in there.

And school is canceled tomorrow. Time to hibernate.
