Day 100: Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

December 11, 2010 § Leave a comment

Today we took the subway to Brooklyn and walked back across the Brooklyn Bridge. The view was beautiful and I was able to walk off a few pounds I’ve gained from all the greasy New York food. We had to be very careful not to walk in the bike lane, as they angry cyclists refuse stop and hurl a chain of expletives at anyone in their path.

The rest of our day was spent at Wall Street, Battery Park, Ground Zero and SoHo. Also, earlier in the day we stopped at the huge Macy’s at Herald Square.

The store is so big it has its own food court. The decorations were incredible and the selection overwhelming. We rode up and down the wooden escalator. There was a 3.5 hour wait to see Santa. The line wrapped all around the store. Kids were screaming and crying everywhere. How they were able to stand for that long to see Santa is beyond me.

Tomorrow we go home, but not before an extensive exploration of Central Park. Check that out tomorrow!
