Day 83: Go to 5 grocery stores in one day

Tomorrow is the first Thanksgiving Stephanie and I have ever spent away from family. In order to make our own little holiday feel legitimate, we decided to go all out. Not only does this mean cooking some of our favorite dishes from home, but it means making just as much as if we were cooking for an entire family.
Our menu includes turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, deviled eggs, my grandpa’s clam dip, rolls, roasted vegetables, a pumpkin-pecan cheesecake and Stephanie’s mom’s famous shrimp and crab salad. My quest to acquire the ingredients to all of these dishes took me to:
- Marketplace on Oakton (A local produce store)
- Aldi (Which is like an enlarged version of the Dollar Store’s food section)
- Jewel (Albertson’s in Oregon. I actually went here twice)
- Dominick’s (Safeway in Oregon)
I had the most trouble finding fresh baby shrimp and clam dip, which apparently are exclusive to the Northwest.
Now, after a full day of shopping and cooking, I’m ready for a full day of eating. What a great holiday.
